SELECTION PROCEDURE
The selection methodology will comprise of written test and interview. The written test is
likely to be conducted in July, 2012 (tentative). The candidates short-listed in the written

Written Test
Eligible candidates will be required to appear for an objective type written test at any one of
the  proposed centres. The test will comprise of  two sections (i)  Technical questions
covering the  relevant discipline  (ii)  General Aptitude covering  Quantitative Aptitude,
General Awareness, Reasoning and English Language. The Technical section will consist of
100 questions and the General Aptitude section will consist of 50 questions. The duration
of test will be for two hours. There will be negative marks for every wrong answer and 1/4th
marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. The test will be in English language.
Only  candidates belonging to  Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with
Disabilities (PD)(degree of disability 40% or above) will be paid Second Class to & fro rail
fare (TA) by the shortest route for appearing in the written test. SC/ST/PD candidates
are advised to choose the nearest centre to their place of stay as per the mailing address
mentioned in their application. However, if a SC/ST/PD candidate prefers to take the test at
any other centre, he/she may do so, but the TA reimbursement will be limited to the fare
admissible between the mailing address and the nearest test centre. Change in allotted test
centre will not be allowed.

Interview
Candidates short listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be required
to appear for an interview and the intimation for interview will be given to the candidates
through e-mail. All such candidates will be paid  to & fro second class rail fare by the
shortest route from the mailing address given in the application to the interview
centre.
EMOLUMENTS
 DURING TRAINING (ONE YEAR TRAINING PERIOD):
Monthly Emoluments: Rs.25,000/-(Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) per month
+ Accommodation & Transport from hostel to place of work

CTC : (Approx.) Rs.3.75 LACS  per annum. (Includes stipend of Rs. 25,000/- p.m. and other

The MTs will be considered for absorption as  Engineer in the regular pay scale of

TRAINING & PLACEMENT
The selected candidates shall undergo training of  one year.
The place of posting  during training period and also there after can be  at Head Office New
Delhi / Gurgaon, Regional Offices at Chennai, Vadodara, Kolkata, Inspection Offices, and
Project Sites etc. in India and abroad  and the services are transferable as required by the

CONCESSIONS/RELAXATIONS
  Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for Other
Backward Classes (OBC - non creamy layer) candidates.
  Upper age limit for Persons with Disabilities (PD) candidates is relaxable by 5 years.
Persons with 40% or more Disabilities shall be eligible for relaxation.
 Upper age limit is relaxable for children / family members of those who died in the
year 1984 riots subject to production of certificate from the competent authority.
 Reservation of posts for SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer)/PD candidates will be as per
       Presidential directives.
 One no. of post is reserved for  Persons with Disabilities. PD candidates in any of   the
three categories (Blindness or Low Vision; Hearing Impaired; and Locomoter
disability or Cerebral Palsy) are eligible to apply.
STEPS FOR APPLYING
1. Eligible candidates need to apply through on-line registration system on EIL  website.

2. The interested candidates have to click on “Registration” for initial registration.
3. On successful submission of requisite details, a Registration no. will be generated.
4. Candidates belonging to  General and OBC category are required to pay nonrefundable registration fee of  Rs.300/- +  Rs. 50 towards bank charges i.e total
350/- in the form of Bank Challan (Pay-in-slip). The SC / ST / PD category candidates
are exempted from payment of fee.
5. State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee, in a specially
opened account (No.   32298420483)  (Branch  Code:  09996). Candidates have to
approach a SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the
application registration portal. The “pay-in-slip” printed from the portal should only
be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account.
On receipt of the money the bank will issue a unique Journal Number, Branch Name
and  Branch Code of the  bank collecting the money. This journal number, Branch
Name and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online “final
submission”. EIL will not be responsible, in case a candidate deposits the fee in wrong
account. There will not be any other mode of payment of registration amount.
6. Candidate will retain the applicants copy of the “pay-in-slip” which will be required to
be submitted at the time of interview.
7. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore

8. The candidate will then fill up the  final details by clicking on the link “Final
submission”.  Before “final submission” of application,  candidates should keep the
scanned copy of their passport size colour photograph in .jpg/.jpeg format of not more
than 75 KB size and their signature in .jpg/.jpeg format of not more than 25 KB size.
All SC, ST and Person With Disabilities need to upload their caste certificate and
disability certificates also of not more than 500 KB each in .jpg/.jpeg format.
9. After  final submission,  candidates are required to  save the details and take the
printout of the application. Candidates are required to keep the printout  of the
application which will be required at the time of Personal Interview, if short listed for.
10. Candidates must ensure that they save their applications properly.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
                                           
1. Online submission of application will be permitted on the website between 0000 hrs
on 02.05.2012 till 2400 hrs on 25.05.2012
2. Candidates should have a valid e-mail address specified in the application and  the
same  should be functional for at least two years from the date of the submission of
application.
3. Candidates are not required to send the print out of the application to EIL.
Candidates should retain a print out of their on-line application and photocopy
of the pay- in-slip for future reference.
4. Only those who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria need apply. If at any stage, it is
found that the candidate does not meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he/she will
be disqualified.
5. EIL may, at its discretion, cancel or change the test centre city. In that event, the
candidate will have the option to obtain refund of the registration fee deposited with
the application.
6. The number of vacancies are not fixed and varies with the requirement
7. The Travelling Allowance (TA) to SC/ST and PD candidates who will be called for the
written test, will be sent at a later date. These candidates will be required to submit
the filled in TA form alongwith tickets/ticket no. at the respective test centre.
8. Eligible candidates will be intimated by e-mail and SMS in due course for downloading
of admit card from EIL website.  EIL shall not be responsible for any loss of
email/admit card sent, due to invalid/wrong email id/wrong postal address/postal

10. Court of jurisdiction for any dispute will be Delhi.
11. EIL, at any time,  reserves the right to cancel the advertisement and/or the selection
process there under.
12. Application form is available in Hindi/English language.  However the language of the
question paper will be English.
13. Eligible candidates whose children/family members have died in the 1984 riots shall
be given due consideration in recruitment.
14. Provisions of the Persons with Disability Act for 3% reservation are being complied
with.
15. Screening and selection will be based on the details provided, hence it is necessary
that only accurate,  full and correct information is  furnished  by the applicants.

I have secured 7.1 CGPA in engineering and equivalent %age of marks comes to 64%.  What am I
supposed to enter in the application form?
You are required to enter marks as per grading system followed by your institute/university. If your
instt./univ. awards marks on %age basis, you are supposed to enter the aggregate %age marks secured
by you.  However, if CGPA/CPI system is followed, you must enter CGPA/CPI secured by you.

I want to know more about the written test.
The examination will be of 2 hours duration and candidates will have to answer 150 questions (multiple
choice, objective type).   The Written Test will have two parts. One part will constitute 50 questions
from general aptitude and  other part will have 100 technical questions from the respective discipline.
General Aptitude will cover the following:
 General Awareness covering economics, industry, oil & energy, world affairs, Indian culture, sports
