If you have won a prize in the Kerala lottery, you will need to follow the prize claim process outlined above in order to receive your prize money. If your prize is worth up to INR 1 lakh, you can claim it at a District Lottery Office. Prizes worth more than INR 1 lakh must be claimed at the office of the Director of State Lotteries, and you will need to provide certain required documents such as a claim application, passport-size photographs, and proof of identity. If you are claiming the prize through a bank, you will also need to provide additional documents such as a letter of authorization and certificates from the receiving and collecting banks.
If your prize is worth more than INR 10,000, income tax at the prevailing rate will be deducted from your prize money and credited to the central government account. Currently, an income tax of 30% is deducted for all prize-winning claims over INR 10,000. No surcharge or educational cess is deducted at this time. The Deputy Director (Prize) will approve payment for prizes worth more than INR 1 lakh and up to INR 20 lakh, while the Director will approve payment for prizes worth more than INR 20 lakh.
